The Secret to Corporate Governance 02.02.23

On the 2nd February 2023, GFIA hosted a refreshing and vibrant training on Corporate Governance. Hassans graciously let us use their fantastic boardroom for the event which was turned into a make shift play house for the afternoon.

The Training consisted of three parts; a technical talk on enforcement powers by GFIA’s Deputy Chairman, Jay Gomez, a lively role play performance, and an interesting panel discussion followed by a Q&A session.

Over 50 people attended the event which provided an engaging and unique platform for training.

The role play was performed by James Lasry, Patricia Linares, Benjy Cuby, Carlos Martins, Gregory Martinez and Charles Melvin.

The performance unveiled a high stress situation where two Executive Directors wanted to make a pressured investment, and the EIF Directors wanted to ensure they were complying with the fund’s governing document….chaos and anger soon ensued…. so who are you going to call? The Regulator!!!

In this entertaining and dramatised version of a quarterly meeting gone bad, the questions are left to the audience, who do you think is right and what would you do? The dramatisation lead straight to a fantastic panel discussion with members of the GFIA committee and Sam Vatvani representing the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.
